William “Bert” Adams
October 18, 1943 – September 11, 2000

GULFPORT – William “Bert” Adams, 56, of Gulfport, died Monday, September 11, 2000, in Jackson. 

Mr. Adams was born in Gulfport where he resided for most of his life.  He was a graduate of Gulfport High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi and Phi Kappa Tau.  He was a member of Pass Road Baptist Church.

Mr. Adams was president of Adams Flowers, Inc., a family business that he was associated with since completion of his college degree.  He was a member and past president of Mississippi Florists and Nurserymen’s Association.  He was a member and held numerous offices with Florist Transworld delivery.  He previously received the “FTD Golden Circle in Sales Achievement” Award and the American Floral Service (AFS) “The President’s Top 100” Award.  He was a member of the Ocean Wave Fellowship and the Coast Chamber and was a former member of Gulfport Kiwanis Club, Gulfport Jaycees and Gulfport Rotary Club.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Ruth Shaw Adams; and his father, William F. Adams, Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Adams Stovall and her husband, Curt, of Ft. Worth, Texas; a son, William Brent Adams of Gulfport; his mother, Lena Florence Spight Adams of Gulfport; a brother, John S. Adams and his wife, Mary Katherine of Pass Christian; and extended family and many friends.


The funeral service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport where friends may visit from 3 p.m. until service time.  There will be a graveside service Thursday at 2 p.m. at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine, MS.
