Patti Hapes Roberts
May 13, 1943 to April 21, 2011

Patti Roberts, 66, passed over in a peaceful sleep on Thursday, April 21st, 2011.  Patti was born in Orange County, California, to her parents, Merle 7 Evelyn Hapes, who also called Gulfport their home.  Her father, Merle, was an accomplished football player, both in college, at Ole Miss, and later in the NFL with the NY Giants.  In her youth, Patti moved quite often, and arrived in Gulfport her sophomore year, attending Gulfport High.  After graduation, Patti attended Ole Miss on a majorette scholarship.  She married and had 3 children; Scott, Chris, and Daniel Anderson.  Patti traveled the world, living from the east coast to the west, and overseas in Bangkok, Thailand.  In 1979 she relocated to Bossier City, LA.  In 1982 she attended her 20 yr class reunion, where she was reintroduced to her high school boyfriend, and love of her life, Ted Roberts.  They married, and lived briefly in Dallas.  Patti and Ted moved again, this time landing in Chicago.  The cold winters became too much, and they flew south to the coastal home and friends they loved.  Patti and Ted worked within the casino networks.  Patti eventually joined the Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi, where she became Player’s Club Manager for 8 years.  In 2011 she received the award for Supervisor of the quarter.  In Gulfport, Patti also renewed her lifelong love with horses, becoming an advocate for head injury patients involved in equestrian therapy.  She loved her horses and boarded them at Victoria Farms, a stable that trains and competes in American Saddlebreds.  Patti is preceded in death by her mother and father, and her younger brother, Michael Merle Hapes.  She is survived by her husband and friend of a lifetime, Ted Roberts, her sister Toni Hapes Lunsford of Texas, her children: Scott, Chris and Daniel Anderson, Todd and Troy Roberts, her daughter-in-law Susan and Tanya, and her 4 grandchildren: Lane Marie and Elyssa Roberts, and Jackson and Campbell Anderson.

Services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour before the service.  Interment will follow services at Evergreen Gardens, Gulfport.  A private reception will be held at Victoria Farms.  Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.  View and sign an online register at www.bradfordokeefe.com.
