Joey Hoff

The body of Albert Joseph Thomas (Joey) Hoff, 17, was taken from Riemann’s Chapel in Gulfport to the Fist Methodist Church for services Monday afternoon.  The Rev. Dr. Clyde H. Gunn of Natchez, former pastor of First Methodist Church, officiated.

Burial was in Evergreen Gardens.  Pallbearers were Tim Medley, Bert Adams, Norman Ramsey, Harby Kreeger, Pat Taylor, Jerry Meadows, Dent Donohoo and David Andre.  Members of the Gulfport High School band were honorary pallbearers.

Young Hoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick T. Hoff, 615 Allendale Ave., Gulfport, died shortly before midnight Sunday at memorial Hospital from an accidental gunshot wound in the head.

Young Hoff was a native of Brunswick, GA and has resided in Gulfport most of his life.  He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Gulfport.  He would have been a member of the senior class at Gulfport High School for the 1960—61 school session.

He attended Boys’ State and Boy Scout camp this summer.  He was a member of the high school band and had been active in scout work since he was eight years old.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Miss Linda Kay Hoff; one brother, Frederick T. Hoff, Jr.; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. H. A. Reeves, Gulfport.
