George M. “Mac” Brooks
March 19, 1943 to March 20, 2011

George M. “Mac” Brooks, Jr., age 68, of Gulfport, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 20, 2011.

Mr. Brooks was a 1961 graduate of Gulfport High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.  He served in the U. S. Army and self-employed over 35 years before retiring from Blacklidge Emulsions as General Manager.  He was an active member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church serving as a Trustee and on the Building Committee.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Beck Brooks, and his father, George M. Brooks, Sr.

Survivors include his children, Denton Brooks, Slidell, LA, Bubbie Brooks, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Mac (Tania) Brooks, III, and David (Lori) Brooks, both of Gulfport, his mother, Mary Brooks, 2 sisters, Barbara (Bob) Patterson, Evelyn (Billy) Luke, all of Jackson, MS and a brother, Steve (Caroline) Brooks, Biloxi, 8 grandchildren, Natasha Wichterich and her husband, Josh; Ryan Brooks, Austin Brooks, Rhyanna Brooks; Madylaine Brooks; Amelia Brooks; and Emma Brooks, his great grandchild, Joshua Wichterich, Jr. and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Marcy 23, 2011 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Bel Aire Baptist Church, 15080 Dedeaux Rd., Gulfport.  The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church sanctuary where friends may visit from 9 – 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be sent to the Building Fund at Bel Aire Baptist Church.

The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
