Rebecca “Becky” Skelton Brooks
December 22, 1944 to July 14, 2008

Rebecca S. Brooks, age 65, of Gulfport, passed away on July 14, 2008 in Gulfport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Skelton and Elizabeth Skelton; and a sister, Barbara Skelton.

Becky is survived by her husband, Mac Brooks of Gulfport; her children, Denton Brooks of Slidell, LA, Bubbie Brooks of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Mac Brooks, III and his wife, Tania, of Gulfport, and David Brooks and his wife, Lori, of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Natasha Wichterick and her husband, Josh, Ryan Brooks, Austin Brooks, Rhyanna Brooks, Madylaine Brooks, Amelia Brooks, and soon to be Emma Brooks; her great grandchild, Joshua Wichterick, Jr.; her sister, Beverly Roland and her husband, Al, of Picayune; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A native and lifelong resident of Gulfport, she graduated from Gulfport High School in 1961 and Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College.  She attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Special Education.  Becky was a member of Bel Aire Baptist Church, Gulfport where she served as a teacher and director of the preschool for many years; she loved teaching the word of God.

She loved traveling the world; was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.  Her smile would light up the room and her kindness was overwhelming.  She was the foundation and mortar of her family.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. at the RIEMANNFAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bel Aire Baptist Church, Dedeaux Rd., Gulfport.  Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
