EDM MACHINIST
Job Summary for EDM Machinist:
Experienced EDM Technician produces machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) wire EDM machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
Education and/or Experience of EDM Machinist:
- The minimum requirements for this position are 2 years technical degree in the field of EDM/CNC operations and programming and/or 2 years of EDM experience. Must have a thorough knowledge of machining principles, ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints. Solid math foundation necessary.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Technical Certificate in EDM/CNC Operations and Programming (Desirable)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of EDM Machinist include the following:
- Plans machining by studying shop drawings, work orders and blueprints.
- Programs EDM Machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; offset compensation and power settings.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample workpieces.
- Performs machine maintenance, to include cleaning, inspection and replacement of consumables.
- Performs selection use and care of special tools and measuring devices.
- Finds pertinent machine shop data in machinist handbook and other technical manuals.
- Performs layout work preparatory to machining using various layout tools.
- Troubleshoots machine malfunctions, and corrects in accordance with pertinent technical manuals.
Pay commensurate with experience.
