HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Job Summary for Human Resources Manager:

The Human Resource Manager plans, directs, and coordinates all human resource management activities for a high-tech metal manufacturing business employing over 200 people. Partners and consults with management, and advises on issues concerning all functional areas of human resources, including employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, training and development, performance management, policy implementation, employee recognition, drug testing, discipline, and benefits. Manages, communicates, and implements company-wide programs. Develops and recommends policies. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations as related to human resources.

Education/Experience for Human Resources Manager:

  • BS/BA degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline, and Minimum 3 years of experience in HR Management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Salary commensurate with Education and Experience

Qualifications for Human Resources Manager:

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills, as well as being organized and professional.
  • Successful management of multiple priorities in a timely manner.
  • Resourcefulness in tackling challenges.
  • Customer focus, both internally and externally.
  • Effectiveness in managing/balancing cultural and organizational nuances and in building credibility with leaders, managers, and employees.
  • Excellent business judgment and demonstrated proficiency in organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing environment and ERP software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems is preferred.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to management and employees.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • SPHR or PHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Human Resources Manager:
  • Oversees day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork concerning personnel related data such as hires, transfers, performance reviews, and absenteeism.
  • Oversees and conducts the candidate screening process (application, phone, and initial onsite interview) and coordinates with management on the selection and hiring of new employees.
  • Conducts employment outreaches and maintains partnering relationships with local Chambers, Universities, and Schools and participates in local job fairs.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation and onboarding.
  • Plans and conducts annual employee training and developmental training for managers and supervisors.
  • Manages the employee performance evaluation process.
  • Conducts investigations into employee complaints, settles disputes, and resolves grievances and/or conflicts.
  • Works with management to recommend appropriate disciplinary action when needed. Collaborates with management on employee terminations.
  • Conducts employee exit interviews. Reports findings to management.
  • Develops and maintains open communication channels with managers, supervisors, and peers to develop healthy sharing of information.
  • Works with management in the development, selection and/or contracting of training programs and consultants and facilitates a culture of performance, results, and positive employee relations.
  • Plans and oversees any government contract related training, drug testing, and reporting.
  • Develops recommendations for improvement of personnel policies and practices.
  • Provides current and prospective employees with information about benefits, policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, promotional opportunities, and employee benefits.
  • Manages benefit programs, including medical and dental insurance, short-term disability, and workers compensation.
  • Investigates and reports on industrial accidents for insurance carriers, in collaboration with safety manager.
  • Serves as link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting policy, and resolving work-related problems.
  • Stays abreast of labor laws and legal consultation processes regarding employee relations and ensures company compliance with all existing governmental reporting requirements, along with records management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises all employees of the department, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
