WATERJET / PLASMA OPERATOR
Job description for Waterjet / Plasma Opartor: Sets up and operates waterjet to cut varying thicknesses and types of alloys. Runs jobs ensuring all parts meet tight manufacturing requirements and performs general machine maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Operates CNC waterjet and plasma machines, including modifying CAM files and selecting proper cutting parameters based on material type and thickness.
- Interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, setup, and machining sequence.
- Monitors machine performance and production quality, making real-time adjustments to ensure output meets specifications.
- Inspects finished parts using measuring and inspection tools to verify conformance to requirements.
- Performs routine operations and preventative maintenance, including material loading, equipment startup/shutdown, and lubrication.
- Follows all safety procedures, quality processes, and company policies, while communicating equipment or tooling issues to supervision.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in operating computer-controlled machinery and using standard machine shop and hand tools.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints and specifications.
- Knowledgeable in diverse materials with a basic understanding of metallurgy and material behavior.
- Experienced with machine diagnostics, troubleshooting process and quality issues, and using QC tools and gauges.
- Capable of safely handling heavy materials (50 lbs or more) and following all safety regulations.
- Works effectively in a team environment and cooperates with operators, supervisors, and support staff.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred, with on-the-job training provided.
- One or more years of relevant experience required.
- Apprenticeship, vocational, or technical training is a plus.
