WELDER

Job description for Welder:
Welder utilizes oxy-acetylene torch cutting and welding processes (including Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Pulse Gas Metal Arc Welding), and welds a wide variety of metals and their alloys in fabrication and repair of metal structures, intricate parts, equipment, and other items in accordance with customer specifications. Skilled, as a fit-up welder, in the use of MIG, TIG, & standard welding equipment.


Experience/Education required for Welder
Minimum of 1 year experience and/or certification in steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum welding. Must be able to read prints, including welding symbols. Knowledge of the standard tools, materials, & techniques of the welding trade, along with quality tools to measure and examine completed parts to ensure product quality is met.
TIG welding experience is a plus.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints and job specifications to plan and lay out welding projects, selecting appropriate methods and equipment (GTAW, GMAW, P-GMAW, robotic welding).
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, performing welds in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead) on components of different sizes and shapes.
  • Fabricate, align, and assemble parts using templates, jigs, and fixtures; tack-weld or complete welds to meet structural and quality standards.
  • Inspect welds and components using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers), ensuring conformance to dimensional and quality specifications.
  • Finish and repair workpieces by grinding or filing, and perform routine equipment maintenance and other assigned duties related to welding operations.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and using standard welding tools and techniques, including MIG, TIG, acetylene, and robotic welding.
  • Knowledgeable in welding safety practices, occupational hazards, and proper handling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining welding equipment, with the ability to inspect welds for quality and compliance.
  • Able to learn through hands-on instruction and observation, applying independent judgment in task execution.
  • Committed to working safely and responsibly, ensuring no direct threat to self or others in the workplace.
